Dani Guard is an attorney who has been litigating since 1994. She began her legal career representing public employees, and then spent over twenty years representing physicians, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and medical groups in all phases of litigation before the California Superior and Appellate Courts, the United States District Court for the Northern and Central Districts of California and the California Medical Board. Representing medical professionals required Ms. Guard to learn a broad variety of complex medical issues and procedures and then effectively and simply communicate these concepts. Her practice also required Ms. Guard to locate, retain and work with the best medical experts across the country. She has successfully defended multimillion-dollar cases involving difficult medical issues and has briefed and argued cases in front of the California Appellate Courts. Ms. Guard has extensive experience drafting legal briefs, taking depositions, preparing witnesses for testifying, representing clients at all phases of litigation, appearing in court and negotiating settlements. She has over two decades of experience of being responsive to her client’s needs and finding the best solution available. Prior to joining BBC Public Affairs, Ms. Guard was a partner at the law firms of Hardy, Erich, Brown & Wilson and Wilke, Fleury, Hoffelt, Gould & Birney. She is also an entrepreneur and has experience in creating a product, getting it manufactured, starting a business in California, obtaining a trade mark and a patent pending designation and in marketing and selling the product. These experiences provided Ms. Guard with experience and knowledge of the challenges of owning and operating small businesses. Since joining BBC Public Affairs, Ms. Guard has worked with clients and governmental officials on policies and legislation in diverse areas, including family law, gaming, environmental issues and the energy sectors. Ms. Guard’s legal background has proven to be advantageous in creating and understanding law and policy. Ms. Guard received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Utah and her Juris Doctorate from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.
Paris M. Weatherspoon
Paris M. Weatherspoon is a Legislative Administrative Professional specializing in Legislative Tracking and Executive Calendar Management. She has worked for Southern California Edison Public Affairs Department for the past 5 years where she was responsible for providing administrative and legislative support. Prior to working for SCE, Ms. Weatherspoon has worked for The California State Department of Parks and Recreation in Personnel, where she specialized in accounts payable and training. She also has over 10 years of experience working in the Medical Field specializing in Business Office Transactions and Administrative Support. In her spare time, Paris enjoys taking her dog for walks and volunteering for the Consumes Oaks Football and Cheerleading Team. Ms. Weatherspoon holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources from the University of California, Sacramento. And is currently pursuing a Master’s in Industrial Psychology from the University of Phoenix.
