Dani Guard is an attorney who has been litigating since 1994. She began her legal career representing public employees, and then spent over twenty years representing physicians, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and medical groups in all phases of litigation before the California Superior and Appellate Courts, the United States District Court for the Northern and Central Districts of California and the California Medical Board. Representing medical professionals required Ms. Guard to learn a broad variety of complex medical issues and procedures and then effectively and simply communicate these concepts. Her practice also required Ms. Guard to locate, retain and work with the best medical experts across the country. She has successfully defended multimillion dollar cases involving difficult medical issues and has briefed and argued cases in front of the California Appellate Courts. Ms. Guard has extensive experience drafting legal briefs, taking depositions, preparing witnesses for testifying, representing clients at all phases of litigation, appearing in court and negotiating settlements. She has over two decades of experience of being responsive to her client’s needs and finding the best solution available. Prior to joining BBC Public Affairs, Ms. Guard was a partner at the law firms of Hardy, Erich, Brown & Wilson and Wilke, Fleury, Hoffelt, Gould & Birney. She is also an entrepreneur and has experience in creating a product, getting it manufactured, starting a business in California, obtaining a trade mark and a patent pending designation and in marketing and selling the product. These experiences provided Ms. Guard with experience and knowledge of the challenges of owning and operating small businesses. Ms. Guard received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Utah and her Juris Doctorate from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. If she wasn’t an advocate, Dani would like to be a general contractor or an event planner.
